Moving forward to hire a new superintendent by February 2013!
District seeks proposals from experienced Superintendent Search Firms
Greetings to our new blog community, and I hope your school year is off to a fantastic start. I wanted to update all of you on the Superintendent Search process that we are undertaking as a Board. We know that this decision is likely the most significant one we will make while serving on the FBISD Board, and we take this process very seriously. A Superintendent’s job is extremely important as that person is entrusted with guiding the District forward, with oversight of the students, campus operations and all educational services the District provides. If you think of this role in business terms, the FBISD Superintendent is the Chief Executive Officer of the largest employer in Fort Bend County – a big responsibility indeed.
In August, Michael McKie was named as Acting Superintendent, and the Board met on two occasions to define the process to be used to develop a superintendent profile. This month, a Request for Proposal (RFP) was issued on Sept. 6 for Superintendent Search Firm Services, which will aid the Board in our search for the next Superintendent of Fort Bend ISD. The District is seeking proposals from Superintendent Search Firms who are experienced in the process of superintendent selection for school districts comparable in size to Fort Bend ISD. We will be accepting proposals until Tuesday, Sept. 27, and will be interviewing search firms in October if necessary.
The Board’s goal is to name a new Superintendent in February 2013 as the Spring semester begins. The process will include significant opportunity for input from all of the District’s stakeholders ─ our community, parents, teachers, administrators and others.
Please visit our Superintendent Search website for more information, and we look forward to updating you on this process as it moves ahead.
Have a great year!
